SCCM 2007 osd capture

I am trying to captrue an image of a reference machine I built running windows xp sp3 using sccm osd.  I am using capture media to boot the reference machine.  After it runs the sysprep and reboots and starts the image capture I get a failure message (0x8007002)  I am able to f8 to a prompt and ping the storage location as well as map a drive to the location.  I believe that I have the network access account set correctly with a valid user name and password.  I am attaching the smts log file.  I can see some errors in the log, but can't figure out why they are occuring.

Does the network access account or te account you are using to do the capture have access to \\iavsccm\capture can you try mapping a drive from the command prompt when you press F8

net use t: \\iavsccm\capture

When I try to map to \\iavsccm\capture it tells me invalid password and then prompts for credentials.  I enter my credentials which should be the same as being used by the nac and is the same as I entered at the begining of the capture process.  Once I enter them the drive maps.
Then there is a problem with the credentials that have been used.

Are they in the format of domain\username ?
When the cd boot are you entering credentials here?
What format are you using?

Yes.  I have it set in site settings\client agents\computer client agent in the domain\username format. (the same as I used when it prompted me for credentials durring the manual mapping.  I also used this durring the osd capture process it asks for credentials to be used for network capture location I used the same credentials in the same format.
When you boot from the cd and it propmts fr credentials can you try a different user?

Maybe a domain admin that definately has full control to the share?

The user account used is a domain admin.  I also verified the share and directory permissions for the account used.  I am in the process of setting up a new account and will test and report back asap.

Since the reference computer is a member of a workgroup and not the domain, woudln't it prompt for credentials when trying to access a domain resource?  I am getting the same problem with a different use ID.
that is why you need to enter the credentials as domainname\username

i always have
I have just re-read the log file and although it does fail to connect to that share a few minutes later it does succeed.

It seems to point to not being able to either create or read a file.
The user you are using definately has read/write access to the share?

the administrator account on the machine you are trying to capture, was the password set to no password?

The share currently has "everyone" set to full controll as well as the specific user set to full control.  In ntfs security local admins is set to full control the user is also granted full control of the directory seperatly.  I verifed the local administrator account has a blank password.  When the machine boots it logs directly in to the administrator account no prompting.
Check the security logs on the server hosting the share that you are capturing too to see if there are any logon failures.  It definatley points to a security issue OR the .WIM file already exists.

I don't see any failures in the security log.  However I have just enabled full auditing for the user account trying to log in.  The share directory is empty.  I will try again with logging turned on, I am also going to try saving the capture to a differnt server share.

I am not having any luck.  The event log show sucessful login attempts to the server no failures.  I also tried saving the capture to a different server same result.

I also remember having a problem with an OSD capture when there was something in the boot partition, was the image created on just a straight boot Windows install no disk management software etc?
You may also want to disable any memory card readers and or external USB drives you may have attached.
Not sure if it is relevant in this scenario but the error in the log indicates the system drive has been changed.

Try the following on the image prior to running the capture CD:

This problem is caused by changing the system drive letter or by changing the default security provider.

If your system drive letter has changed, undo the actions that caused it, or:

1. Use the Registry Editor to navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Defaults\Provider.
2. In each Provider key, edit the Image Path value to match the new drive letter.
3. When you are finished, exit the Registry Editor and shutdown / restart your computer.

If the default security provider has changed:
1. Restart your computer in Safe mode by pressing F8 during startup.
2. Use the Registry Editor to delete the following keys:
-->HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers
-->HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers
3. Exit the Registry Editor and shutdown / restart your computer.

Actually looking at the logfile again in SMSTrace that error appears between opening and closing the registry hives, so you never know that may well be the problem.

SUCCESS!!!!  The PC came with 3 partitions boot, tools and backup.  When I installed win xp i formated the c:\ drive and installed.  I decided to throw the windows xp cd in and delete all of the patitions and create 1 partition and loaded windows xp sp3.  I ran the capture and it went perfect without error.
Excellent, well done!

The boot partition was the c:\ drive, but this comment led me to re-partition the computer with a single drive wich in turn seemed to solve the problem
