ADS/Exchange problems after migration

Asked by aconway in Active Directory, Exchange Email Server

I recently performed a Server/Exchange 2003 to Server/Exchange 2003 migration over the weekend.  Both servers were set with the same SP levels and both set to GC's in my domain.

After I moved Exchange to the new server, I shut off the GC on the original server because I want to remove it from the picture entirely.  I already transferred all the major domain controller roles to the new server a couple months ago and things had been running fine up until this last weekend when I moved Exchange and started turning things off on the old server.  Exchange is still installed on the old server, but all the services are turned to Manual and not running.

I believe there is some sort of GC errors on my new server.  Clients can login, access files and Exchange works for the most part, but clients sometimes get weird problems like being for their login over and over, especially with RPC/HTTP clients.

How do I verify ADS/GC health on my new server?  I've noticed errors on the old server complaining that the Global Catalog server on the new server was not responding when Exchange was trying to.. do things on it's own, like after a reboot, for example.Start Free Trial
