How do I make my current AD domain a child domain in another forest?

Asked by waynewilliams in Active Directory, Windows 2003 Server

Hi,
My company has over the years bought out several other companies around the world.  All of these companies are running their own Windows Server 2003 AD Infrastructure.  We would like (without trashing the current AD on the DC's) to make all of these AD domains in the other offices in to child domains in our AD forest.

For example, let's say our current AD domain is:
headoffice.local

Our branch office has currently got a domain of:
branch.local

We would like to make our branch office be:
branch.headoffice.local

and so on for all the other branches.

Is there a way of doing this without demoting all the branch DC's and DCPROMOing them as child domain DC's in our headoffice.local forest as this option would mean we would have to go through the labourious task of disjoining and rejoining all the client PC's to the domain.

Thanks in advance,

Wayne
