Backup domain cannot ping main DC

i have 2 dc in my network. one main and other as backup dc. recently m backup domain controller cannot ping to the mai dc by name or by ip. the main dc is running the primary dns and the secondary dc is running secondary dns. all the user are configured as dc1 primary dc and the backup dc as secondary dns. because of this replication is also not happening. please help as it is quite urgent.
