How can I test the response time of Windows 2003 Domain Controller?

I am tasked with testing out my domain controllers response time, because we have been experiencing account/authentication related issues with our SQL 2005 server.  Basically, what I would like is:

1. Determine if the DNS server is responding to queries in a timely fashion.
2. Test or monitor our Domain Controllers ability to answer authentication requests (logons, kerboros, etc.) in a timely fashion.
3. Learn how to affectively monitor this process in the future.

My enviroment is rather simplistic:
2 -  win 2003 domain controllers, native mode, w/ AD integrated zones all within the same physical site/subnet using a 1Gbps network
1 - SQL 2005 server
60 - Win xp pro clients

There are other apps polling the server for auth and DNS, but I do not believe they could be causing any issues at this point.  What I have done is:

Ran dcdiag and netdiag on both domain controllers
Perform nslookups and the Test DNS built-in options against DNS servers
All were successful
