Exchange 2007 - Remove WINS?
Hello fellow Experts.
I have long heard that Exchange 2000 and 2003 relied on WINS for various features, so I kept WINS around. Now that I have transitioned to Exchange 2007, which no longer needs WINS, is there any reason why I would want to keep WINS around?
Are there any other applications that I might need it for? We're a pretty basic MS shop, with the exception of Symantec Corporate AV and VMware...
Thanks!

I was told by either Sonicwall or Microsoft that if you have a hardware-to-hardware VPN between sites, that WINS is needed in resolving names. Therefore I have always ensured that I had WINS servers for these types of environments. Was this incorrect?
