Difference between AD replication intrasite and intersite?

Asked by llarava in Active Directory

I have the following scenario,

3 DC on 1 site, 2 on another site and 1 Dc in another site everything same domain.
On this domain I have a file server an this server is in a different site without a domain controller on the same site.

If I modify the membership for the userA and make him member of a group to make this user able to access a share in the file server.

1. What kind of AD replication I am performing - Intrasite or Intersite?
2. Based on the AD default replication how long this change would take? Assuming that WAN connections are in good shape.
3. If the server is located on a site with a DC the change would be faster?

And finally is there a way to know how long the replication would take intra and inter site?

thanks.
