Hi experts;
I need a bit of help here. I'm the sole admin for a small business, and our email is absolutely critical. We've got one Exchange server at our main site that serves multiple roles, including a DC and Blackberry server. The problem is that if anything happens to our site (T-1 outage, router failure, whatever...), email goes down until the problem is fixed. We have more than one geographical location suitable for a server.
The president of the company is a remarkably emotional and impatient man, who doesn't understand that outages are unavoidable. He insists that we have no more than a 15-minute down time for email, regardless of what the cause may be.
I'm limited in my understanding of Exchange, and I've considered trying to set up an Exchange clustger, but my understanding is that it's impractical over a WAN or VPN tunnel to do so. I've also been considering getting an XServe box (Apple) located at our other facility and trying to configure some sort of auto-failover. Has anyone tried this? Or can anyone make any practical recommendations on how to get a rock-solid Exchange infrastructure for under 10K?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
