Server A: Windows Server 2003 Standard (DC) Server B: Windows Storage Server 2003
I am having a problem where users in a group are not able to access a folder within a shared folder. The group has been assigned Full Control in the Security tab. If I add a specific user (from the group) into the Security tab, they are able to access the folder.
Example:
ACTIVE DIRECTORY GROUP Accounting - Jane Smith - Bob Somebody
SHARED FOLDER STRUCTURE - Department Folders (Shared - Everyone [Full Control, Change,Read]) - Accounting (DOMAIN\Accounting - Full Control, Jane Smith- Full Control)
In the above scenario... Jane Smith can access the Accounting folder within the Department Folders share, but Bob cannot. They are both a part of the Accounting security group. If I were to remove Jane Smith from the Accounting folder security tab (so she would only have permissions based on the Accounting group) she would no longer have access.
Note: I removed the "Allow inheritable permissions" from the Accounting folder, then added the Accounting group (so no other groups or users may access the folder).
This is driving me koo koo. What am I doing wrong?
As you broke the inheritance of the NTFS-permissions, check with advanced permissions that the group's permissoins isn't set for just subfolders or files and not the folder itself.
