I have an existing SBS 2003 domain with approx 8 XP Pro client pc's. I was hoping to install and test the Windows Home Server functionalty. Can WHS be accessed with the connector software from pc's that are managed by SBS 2003?

When you say sync, I assume you are saying to create identical user accounts on the WHS as the current domain accounts. When attempting to connect to the WHS from the current domain client, would I need to log on the the local computer domain (local system user account) or can I still use the domain user account and be able to connect to the WHS. Hope that question makes sense
You can still use the same user account in the domain, just the username and password needs to be the same.
So if you login to the domain thus:
username: joe.user
domain: example
password: password123
Then you need to create a user on the Home server of joe.user with the password of password123. You do not have to login to the local machine account.

Yes it can, and you will find a lot of sites that are doing that.
Obviously you have to sync the usernames and passwords with your domain information, but it works fine.
Obviously you can't add it to the domain.
