Network discovery - 2008 server

Asked by LaserSpot in Windows Server 2008

Tags: , ,

Hello,
I setup an Exchange/file server running Windows Server 2008 x64. Windows XP users can access the server through \\SERVERNAME, but it doesn't show up in My Network Places. From the 2008 server, I can't browse the rest of the network; it only sees itself. I started the following services, but it didn't help:
Computer Browser
SSDP Discovery
UPnP Device Host
Network Discovery is On. No relevant errors in event viewer.
IPv4 DNS points to the same DCs as the other systems. The server is not a domain controller, but it's running a Windows 2003 DC under Hyper V. The 2nd NIC is setup is a virtual switch for Hyper V.
