The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Possible to restore the original default domain policy in Server 2008 domain?

Asked by CIA-Mike in Windows Server 2008, Active Directory, Microsoft Server

Tags: , ,

While setting up our group policies, one of our techs, me, started to create a Restricted Groups policy to allow only certain users local administrative rights on the machine. During that process I was pulled away to put out a fire somewhere else, but the empty policy was applied effectively deleting all the entries in the Administrators groups on all our PCs and DCs. Yes, I know this was a very stupid thing to let happen.

Anyway, we are now experiencing all kinds of errors accessing all the important things on our domain such as Exchange and the DCs. I thought I'd re-added everything needed, but we're still receiving access errors when we try to remote in from different machines, or open the Exchange management tools.

Is there any way to completely restore the original default domain policy with Server 2008 and restore all the missing rights? I'm concerned that it won't be possible because the Restricted Groups do no exist until you create them, so the next thing to try and figure out is what permissions have been removed, but I honestly don't know how to go about figuring that out.

I need some help here, and I'm a little desperate as we're planning to migrate to this new domain and Exchange server starting next week.

Thank you.
