Question

Server 2008 Federation Services trouble

I am trying to install Federation Services on a server 2008 and when I click on add role and select Active Directory Federation Services and click next twice all I see are the AD FS Web Agents and I dont have the option to install Federation Services... I checked three other 2008 servers and they all have the same thing... Am i missing a step some where?

Follow this guide (on the left pane is the tree, on the right is the content).

I suspect you may not have the prerequisites installed before you attempted to install ADFS.  

You need web services and a Certificate Authority (Enterprise Root).

That didnt help... FS doesnt mention having a CA as a prereq... When you install FS it should pop up and install the IIS  services you need... This is even before that point when i am trying to select FS... there is not an option for just FS... onlly the web agents.  Thanks!

I figured this one out... I failed to see that I need enterprise edition.
