You should really use the OCS 2007 R2 Edge Planning Tool, answer all the questions and it will diagram it all out including a custom build doc for you.

Office Communications Server 2007 with Live Meeting
Hello All,
I am trying to setup live meeting to use with our OCS 2007 server. My current setup is just a standard edition server, pretty much default installation. I want to set this up so we can host live meeting conferences with external clients so I thought I needed an edge server, however after I set it up it doesn't appear to be connected to my other server.
Has anyone done this? Anyone have some good blogs or white papers on a quick and dirty setup?

There could be a number of reasons for the issue, certificate, firewall, DNS, ports if you have the edge server in the DMZ and more. Did you run the validation tool? I do not have a quick dirty set up guide but look at this.

Are you running OCS 2007 RTM or R2
Here is a link for a lab setup but the instructions are speific to his topology. They are Entrprise for front end but they have good instructions for Edge
