I have a new Dell R710 I have had in production for lesss than 48. It has BSOD on me three different times now, and always recoverrs automatically from the reboot. The Server's role is HyperV R2 - but I don't think that makes much of a difference... Here is the dump (all things point to Processor, but I'm not sure how to read this so I am at a loss..) Any help would be appreciated it.. I am banging my head here...

I have this EXACT same problem. I have 2 Dell R710 PowerEdge servers with dual i7 processors and 96 Gig of RAM.
This is not a virus or malware.
I have installed both machines from scratch with 2008 R2 and the latest firmware for the server from Dell. In fact, I just re-installed both servers last night. By this morning, both have BSOD twice during the night.
I am running these servers as Hyper-V hosts. The servers do not BSOD until I put a few virtual servers on them and let them run for a while. I get the exact error mentioned in the original post.
I have tried disabling Hyperthreading, since it looks like some sort of multiprocessor issue, but that did not resolve the issue.
I am running 2008R2 on several other servers (PowerEdge 2950) with dual quadcore XEONs and they are rock solid as HyperV hosts.
This is something with 2008R2 and the Nehalem / i7 platform. Either that, or something goofy with the R710. The R710s that I have ran flawlessly on 2008R1 for months.
I am going to try to re-create this issue on a clone desktop PC with an i7 processor to see if its the R710 or the i7.

Glad to know I am not the only one experiencing this issue. I finally ended up having to dowgrade these particular R710s to 2008 R1 as they were slotted for production. However, I have 3 other servers that I am wanting to deploy with R2 so I am still playing with the issue. Dell has no idea, and nowhere to turn. EMC, our SAN Vendor, says they do not support R2 and will not help. Our Virtual Machines are stored on the SAN - how about yours? Are they on DAS? If they are, we can eliminate an iSCSI issue. I also have 2950 Dual Quad Core Xeons as HyperV hosts with no problems. Weird. It's like we are clones of each other.
I'll keep you posted as to my findings. I have a call into Microsoft as well.
Here is one rabbit hole I have been following, but the said HotFix does not install in R2. Worth mentioning though:
http://support.microsoft.c
My VMs are all on the local attached PERC 6iR.
No SAN.
I hit this problem the weekend that 2008R2 realeased to MSDN. It was an inplace upgrade, so I thought it was me.
I installed R2 last night on both, OS only, HyperV is the ONLY role on these machines. They dont even have a printer installed.
6 DAS 1TB drives is all they have.
I encountered this problem on some HP servers running Intel E5520 processors. It turned out to be the Enhaced Halt State (C1E) feature of the E5520. The fix is to disable this feature in the BIOS. I see that Dell just added a C1E Disable option to the R710's 1.2.6 BIOS System Setup page:
System: Dell(TM) PowerEdge(TM) R710
Version: 1.2.6
Release Date: 07/24/2009
* Added Microsoft (R) Windows (R) 2008 R2 support
.
.
.
* Added C1E Disable to Processor Settings menu of System Setup
This is the same CPU feature switch that I had to flip on the HP servers to get them to work with Hyper-V Server 2008 R2. I notice that 1.2.6 BIOS also has specific Windows 2008 R2 support, so this BIOS upgrade is probably important if you haven't already installed it.
Incidentally, not all E5500 processors have the C1E feature. The 5504, for example doesn't. So not all R710's are likely to experience this.

Ok, so three days and no BSOD with 8 dummy VMs running. It definately would have crashed by now.
I have loaded up 22 production Virtual Servers on the box and I'm crossing my fingers. My cell phone will go nutts the moment the physical server crashes, so I will alert everyone if the issue re-occurs.
I'm feeling very confident.
That's great news. Honestly, I am just getting around to using one of the new R710s we ordered installed with R2. I had to downgrade my production ones. I don't think I'll be able to give you guys a 100 percent answer on my end until next week, but I will certainly award full points to packetguy based on your answer. From what I have read and researched, your solution seems great.
Thanks!

Stop error message on an Intel Xeon 5500 series processor-based computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 and that has the Hyper-V role installed: "0x00000101 - CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT"
Microsoft has a specific hotfix now...
I had the same error on a HP machine where the BIOS doesn't have the option to turn off the C1E feature. However Microsoft has published a workaround as well as a hotfix here: http://support.microsoft.c

Looks like you have a virus. spsys appears to be a worm/virus of some kind. Try running an antivirus and antispyware program. If needed try booting into safe mode and running the antivirus software.
