Browse All TopicsI have a Windows Server 2008 x64 Hyper-V with SP2 that runs fine. Recently, one windows update, KB967723 will not install. When I lookup that KB, the MS download site says it is for Vista, so I'm a little puzzled.
The specific version info is:
Security Update for Windows Server 2008 x64 Edition (KB967723)
updateGuid {B648CE62-7204-4B44-91AB-0
updateRevisionNumber 103
The only error number provided by windows update is 80070490 or 0x80070490.
I see a related error in the Event Viewer:
Event ID 4375: Windows Servicing failed to complete the process of setting package KB967723 (Security Update) into Installed(Installed) state
PackageIdentifier KB967723
ReleaseType Security Update

Thanks. I didn't realize they use the same KB number even though there are entirely different web pages and downloads for each OS version. This is the Vista page I kept hitting when trying to search for that KB number only:
http://www.microsoft.
And it seems they have a separate page for the Server 2008 x86 version as well--confusing. So the lesson is apparently to include the specific OS version along with the KB number when searching.
I downloaded and installed the Server 2008 x64 version and it appears to have installed successfully. Problem solved.
Thanks!
