1 domain controller. I was thinking about rebuilding the DNS server.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI am having strange issues that I can only equate to an Active Directory problem. There are a number of issues.
1.) Event ID 4007 The DNS server was unable to open zone %1 in the Active Directory from the application directory partition %2. This DNS server is configured to obtain and use information from the directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone without it. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly and reload the zone. The event data is the error code.
- How do I reload the zone, and check that AD is functioning?
2.) Authentication fails on RDP connections a lot of the time, and we know we are using the correct administrator credentials.
3.) Roaming profiles are intermittently not able to be found at login.

With regards to the Event 4007, did you initially build the DC with a different domain name than you are using now?
If so, you will need to use the DNS Console to remove any instances of the unused domain name, then you will need to use Regedit to remove the unused zone details from: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wi

How many domain controllers do you have now? Have you looked through DNS to make sure records correspond to what you actually have?
