Well, the thing about that is that the server is set to reboot once a week. And this has been happening for the past month.
What would anti-virus have to do with that? Just curious.

Browse All TopicsI am a domain admin on our system and I built our file server. It is a Windows Server 2008 box and our users connect to it to get their documents.
I have been getting emails from people that are saying that I have their document open. Or, at least, that's what Word or Excel tells them. However, I don't have them open. Someone else does. I can even look in the share and storage management and look at the open files and it says that another user has it open.
What gives? I'm not even sure where to begin on this one. I wasn't even the last one to open these files. I have never opened them!

I believe Office displays the user name which is specified in Options for the user who has the file open. In Word 2007 this is set on the Popular section of the Options dialog, under the "Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office" heading. This corresponds to the registry key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Of
If your name is set for this value in one user's profile, then that is what will show up when a second user tries to open a file that the first user has open. You might need to use a group policy or script to reset this value. For instance, you could use the command below in a logon script.
What about if these users are logging into a Citrix server? Would that change? I forgot to mention that.
Their terminal server profile is configured in AD to write back to a share on another server. Every night, the Citrix servers reboot and the local user profiles on those servers are cleared. (which is why we write them back to another server)
