Browse All TopicsI bought a IBM x335 to be used as intranet server. The x335 only has CD drive builtin.
I need to install a Windows Web Server 2008 on the maschine, but they (MS) only deliver a DVD media.
Does anyone has advice ??
I tried to boot on a external USB cd drive, but the x335 doesnt recognize USB until full OS load - no bios support :-(
Anything ??

I had this issue on an older Dell powededge server that has a SCSI cd drive. I ended up downloading a copy of windows 2003 and installing it first. I then placed the 2008 dvd in another pc and shared the drive. I connected to the shared cd and copied the files to a folder on the server. I then ran the setup and opted to do an update. This was not an optimal way to do it, but it worked in a pinch.
