How do I disable opportunistic locking in Windows Server 2008

I installed a new server (Windows Server 2008 standard R2) which is a file server. I need to know how to disable opportunistic locking. I have ten clients and they are continually locking up through out the day. They use an accounting program called Creative Solutions which is on the server and they are locking up 3-6 times a day while in this program. We have contacted Creative Solutions and they said we need to go to the following website and disable opportunistic locking:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/296264
When I follow the article there is no parameters folder and there is no oplocks to modify. What am I missing or not understanding?? When they say parameter do they mean what is located on the left or should there be a parameter folder? If they are referring to what's on the left then which one do I modify? Yes, I have backed up the registry. Please let me know ASAP as the clients are in there busy (tax) season and need this fixed ASAP. Thanks!

Hi,

In the registry editor the following entries are folders on the left side: -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
System\
CurrentControlSet\
Services\
MRXSmb\
Parameters\

You then right click on the right and create the REG_DWORD entry with the value that you require.

In my original post when I said left side I meant right side.
There is no parameters folder and that is what confused me. Underneath the mrxsmb (this is all lower case in the registry) there is only an Enum folder. So now what do I do??

Did this work for you? I have the same problem but it doesnt seem to make any difference. Users are still locked out of client files throughout the day.
The setting that mass2612 changes is only for SMB 1. If the client is Vista or newer it will use SMB 2 to with Server 2008.  See this article about disabling SMB 2.

I actually solved the issue with replacing printer drivers to PCL. Creative Solutions was always having problems when printing. Was using Universal drivers when moved to new server.
