How to disable cached mode with outlook 2010 through GPO and server 2008

Hey there, I have a new TS 2008 unit going into production.

Office 2010 is loaded and the users will inevitanilly be using Outlook.

They will click on the Outlook icon provided by microsft and by default will begin setting up their outlook with their exchange account automatically.

Is there a way in GPO yet to have cached exchange mode disabled in GPO?

Thank you!

I believe it is disabled by default when you install Outlook on a Terminal Server.  I've had to apply patches and reghacks to get it to work in the past.

Can you test and confirm?
There is, but not "out of the box".  You'll need the Office 2010 Group Policy Administrative Template files (part of the Office 2010 Admin Kit).  It's available here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=64b837b6-0aa0-4c07-bc34-bec3990a7956

Once you have the ADMX files installed, you can in your policy go to User Configuration -> Policies -> Administrative Templates -> Microsoft Office Outlook 2010 -> Tools | Account Settings -> Exchange -> Cached Exchange Mode.  In there you should have a "Use Cached Exchange Mode for new and existing Outlook profiles".  Disabling this should force all profiles to use Online Mode.

ASKER

Hey there, sorry to stall on this....I downloaded the 64 bit version and they extracted, how do I get them to import the settings so office outlook 2010 appears in GPO manager?
Take the .admx file(s) that you want to use - in your case you really only need outlk.admx (i think that's the file name, or something similar) - and put it/them into

%systemroot%\sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions

If the PolicyDefinitions folder doesn't exist, create it.  Then, under the PolicyDefinitions folder, create a folder that matches your language (i.e. en-us), and under there put the matching .adml file(s).

When you edit the GPO you should now see Outlook as a folder under Administrative Templates.
I had to create the folder under the sysvol as
c:\windows\sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions\en-us\ and all the .adml's are in there
Do I need to do tomething to refresh the GPM?  Or Import?  they are not showing under userconfig\policies\administrative templates
