asked on

HEADERONLY gives a row back, but cannot see backup sets in GUI

RESTORE HEADERONLY FROM DISK = 'E:\backups\tracker.bak' returns a row, but when i try to use the backup to restore, it does not show any backup set info under "Specify the source and location of backup sets to restore" From Device:

the backup is zipped with sql 2008- could that be an issue?

thanks

OK- the code seems to be running.. will take a while.. will update you.

my version is 10.0.4000.0 (X64)- that should not be a problem, should it?
yes - restore command worked (on same backup file).. is there any setting that needs turned on for gui?

>>may just be a some sort of escape character missing from somewhere...

if i choose a 2005 normal backup, it picks it up fine, but a compressed 2008 backup, it shows blank. my ssms is 2005 sp3- could that be?
