Window server 2008 R2 scanner server setup

Dear expert(s),

I've added "Distributed Scan Service" feature under "printing management" to my server. But I've encountered two problems which awaits your clarification:

1) During the installation of scanner service, i was required to enter domain user info. I thus create a dedicated user account named "NetworkScanner", but it prompts me verification error. It's not until I assign the user "NetworkScanner" to Admin group that I was allowed to go onto the next stage. I am not sure whether it's correct to do so though it works.

2)To add scanners, I go to Scan Management->Managed Scanners->Manage->Add or Remove Scanners, and then enter IP address of the network scanner in my company. However, the scanner seems undetectable as it keeps prompting me error message. I've turned on "Network Discovery" option yet the problem still persist.

After reading a post in technet(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj134196.aspx), i realize not all scanner support "Distributed Scan Management(DSM)". The printer/scanner we are using is "FX ApeosPort -IV C3375 PCL 6", can anyone tell me if this scanner is compatible with DSM?

Thanks in advance.
