I'm somewhat new at NIC teaming. &nbsp;I've got a few questions I would like answered if possible. &nbsp;We run vSphere 5.5, and I have just spun up a new Windows Server 2008R2 VM. &nbsp;When I built it, I gave it two NICS.<br />

1. Can I team these two NICs together from within the O/S? &nbsp;If so, how and where is it done? &nbsp;I have read that it can only be done via the NIC drivers but that seems ridiculous. &nbsp;You can do NIC teaming fairly simply in Server 2003 so not sure why you couldn't in 2008 Server.<br />

2. &nbsp;Since this is a VM, is there going to be any sort of problems I might encounter by teaming two virtual NICS?<br />

This is an Oracle production server we are building, and am I on the right track with my thinking that if I have two NICS teamed together that I am naturally going to gain network performance? &nbsp;Otherwise, what is the point of assigned two virtual NICS to any VM unless you were going to assign them as two different usable interfaces to connect to.
