Windows 2008 r2 printer servers drivers problem

Hi,

I´ve a 2008 r2 printer server with up to 100 printers configured.

With HP Laser Jet 2200, 2300 and 5000  I have a problem. Every time y open de printer server console and under printers tab y click right  printer xxx props. a  messasge is shown telling me I must install  the driver, but the driver is already installed.

why this behaviour?

I´m migrating printers from a 2000 server to 2008r2

Any idea?

Often printers require different drivers when running on different operating systems, so perhaps you need to research and download a newer driver or one built for the particular operating system you are now running. 2008 R2 is a 64-bit platform and perhaps you have the 32-bit driver installed or some other slight difference which allows it to function but is not ideal.

HI,

Of course, I dont use the same driver for win 2000 and 2008. I downloaded the latest drivers available for that model.
Well, we have to check the basics first before diving into a complex issue when it sometimes is as simple as that. Another possibility is that you need to set up printer driver isolation, which is detailed in: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff560836(v=vs.85).aspx

Some general tips on printer drivers for Server 2008 R2 can also be found at:

Sorry but I cannot easily translate to English. Can you type the error out into the text box so that this website can translate it for me? Thanks.

Hi,

With the  Universal printing driver, same result.

I´m going to check your links.

Thanks a lot
install the printer drivers using 'Run as Administrator'.

I ran into this issue the other day - one of the HP drivers was not signed.

But... it´s really strange because this situation only happens when I work with HP printers. There are configured up to 1 hundred of printers Xerox, Panasonic etc etc... and only problems with HP.
Right, the issue I had was with HP Printer drivers that were not signed. I have three drivers that get installed with my HP printers - it looks like one of the wsd drivers is not signed properly by hp - this is a generic driver that gets used by most HP printers.
