What should my authentication on client and default receive connectors be?

Asked by dvanaken in Exchange Email Server, Windows Server 2008

I am trying to understand these two receive connectors.  I get that the default connector is for Internet receive and that port 25 and anonymous are required.  Do I need any other auth methods?  Also, what is the purpose of the Client connector which listens on port 587?  This is a single server taking all the roles.  Users are either Outlook users in the domain or OWA.  I don't know what purpose this connector serves and not sure about the auth methods.  Can somebody help me understand and make some recommendations about auth?  I will post my settings once I get a response.  Thanks
