Recommended Partition Size ?

I am looking for what those of you who have set up (or architected the setup) Windows 2000 Advanced Servers would recommend when it comes to:

- How (# of partitions) to partition the drive, and
- What size (in %) should the partitions be?

Don't worry about how much physical drive space I've got to work with, I'm just looking for a percentage or a maximum when it comes to the OS.

Microsoft doesn't have much on it and the books I've read have given me much to work with.

If you feel like it, also give me a bit of advice on where you store the log files, and the other pieces during a DC upgrade (dcpromo) ...

Web sites would also be useful!

Thanks!

Excellent info ... !

Just a question about your FAT16 partition - does Microsoft have anything to say about that in any of their 'Best Practices' documents, or is that just a personal experience-driven recommendation?

Thanks,

Chris.
Microsoft has nothing to say about it, but the practice is fairly wide spread.  It is a part of the standard server build for every enterprise I have ever done consulting for.

Good enough - points are yours.
