Does that mean Windows 2000 can't use Windows NT 4.0 printer drivers?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI tried to install a shared network printer (installed on a NT 4.0 server) on a Windows 2000 system. The system told me, that it could locate the correct driver and asked for an *.inf file. The same installation work just fine an a Windows NT system. Do we need special drivers on the server for Windows 2000 systems?

check the printer mfg's website and see if they have updated drivers for the printer, and update the drivers on the machine with the printer attached. You may have to remove it and re add it, telling NT that it will be a networked printer and then whch OS's will be accessing it so it can add the w2000 drivers for the w2000 machine. Some NT drivers will work on w2000 but not all

Possibly, trying finding you NT 4.0 disk and seeing if the driver that's there will work. If all else fails, go to the manufacturer's website and see if they have a win2000 specific driver.
