IIS5.0 & NDIS problem

My IIS service hangs after issuing an iisrestart service occasinally. The error shown in event viewer is : the service could not bind instance X, where X is the number of websites hosted on my IIS. Error code 115.

Does anyone have any idea why. I know its associated with the NIC since when this happens you can't ping the website as the IIS websites were not bound to the NIC.

Only recovoury method is to reboot at the moment.

Patching SP2 is not an acceptable answer !!
