Question

Paradise wallpaper

Asked by: jdfox

This is a slightly odd question, but I've gotta ask!

Win2K comes with a desktop wallpaper called "Paradise":
C:\WINNT\Web\Wallpaper\Paradise.jpg

It's an island scene, with a beautiful beach.  Where was the photo taken?  I can't find anything about it on the MS site, or elsewhere: no credits, no info.  Anyone know?

It's in Azul, as well as the Azul wallpaper it seems.

Thanks for the reply.

How do you know for sure it's in Azul, please?  I want to take someone to the exact spots where the paradise.jpg and azul.jpg were taken, so it's important that I know for absolutely certain.

I'm searching Google on various combinations of "Agua Azul Microsoft Windows", etc., and can't find anything about it yet...

Well, I did the same thing. When I just got XP it was my favorite desktop, especially when I was at work :-)
I also wanted to know where it was, since my girlfriend joked about moving there ... long story :-)

I looked it up with google, also every possible combination of words ... Azul, Mexico, Wallpaper(s), background, ... etc

I found two sites. One was saying it was the same location as the Azul background. No references, nothing, but he seemed quite confident.

The second site had some more information on different wallpapers and their locations. It also said it was Azul and had some pictures from the spot.

PS: I asked a friend working at Microsoft in Belgium to ask around, but noone had any idea and as far as I know there are no credits to be found in any text-file.

I guess we can only be sure if we ask someone that lives there or has been there.

Wimmeke

PS2: Can I go with you too? :-)

Thanks for responding.  I've upped the points to 50, if I can see some proof.  It sounds like you're onto it.

PS1: MS Belgium? Bent je Vlaams?  Ik ben Engels, maar ik houde van Vlaanderen.

PS2: Nee! :-)

Wow number 15 linux expert is speaking Flemish! That must be a huge honor! And it is! :-) Even knowing where 'Vlaanderen' is, is a huge accomplishment :-)

I will see if I can find more info about Azul, though I will never be able to prove it I guess. But I want your 50 points ... hehe :-) Just kidding, points don't matter for me.

PS1: Ja ik ben Vlaams, maar ik hou ook wel van de UK. Heb er een tijdje gewoond (Londen, Daventry & Rugby) Maar het bier is hier veel beter! :-)

PS2: I could only try :-p

Cheers;

Well that's a nice looking beach, but I'm afraid it looks nothing at all like the Paradise wallpaper.  Thanks anyway.

by: WimmekePosted on 2003-06-09 at 12:35:04ID: 8684880

I was thinking the same, but I still need to take a look at boracay.com.
Nice place to go on a holiday though :-)

And nice to see, you're still alive fox :-)
