Twain Error

My otherwise peacefull scanner has stopped working. I get a "load fail Error" and it tells me to basically load the twain file in the windows system folder. Running 2000, I have made sure that the appropriate file is in the twain and twain 32 folders but it still does not work.

Have used manufactures install disk and still no help. Need to know, I quess how to completely remove all references to twain and twain 32 and reinstall, if this will fix it.
