choose option 2, and then edit the boot.ini file
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI recently tried to use my Recovery CD to recover Windows 2000 since the Add/Remove programs applet produces errors (and always has done). I *believe* I selected the "Recover current windows" option - it was the second option in the list as indicated by my documentation.
Towards the end of the setup, a message told me that all User profiles would be deleted, along with My Documents, so I pressed F3 to abort.
Now, when I boot up my machine I get a boot option screen:
1. Previous operating system
2. Win 2k Professional
3. Win 2k update (or similar)
Is there any way (short of reformatting) that I can remove this boot-up screen as it is extremely irritating. I don't want to continue with the "recovery" of current windows if I am going to lose My Documents and all the user profiles. I only have a Win 2k recovery disk provided by my PC supplier and not Win 2k itself. Would using the recovery disk to "Restore your Windows System Files" have the required effect?
Thanks

Find the boot.ini file.
Now copy it to anouther folder. Rename that copied filed to something like boot.bak. Move it back to where the boot.ini file is. Now open the boot.ini file and remove the lines you don't want.
