The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Malfunctioning Recycle Bin

Until recently, my Win2K recycle bin was working fine. Now I have an intermittent problem(s). Sometimes it works properly. At other times, it appears full, but I did not delete anything prior to this and it is empty inside. I usually create a folder and delete it (ie, send it to the recycle bin) and then empty the recycle bin to get rid of the "full" appearance. More significantly, I sometimes delete an item which should show up in the recycle bin (ie, not from a floppy disc or other exceptions to the rule) and it is not there. I will then delete a second item which also does not appear in the recycle bin. So I now have an apparently empty recycle bin. When I try to "empty" it, windows asks me if I'm sure that I want to delete these two items. I click "Yes" and the apparently empty recycle bin becomes really empty. I hope that I am not confusing you, but this is the best I can do to describe a "weird" situation. My computer is functioning OK otherwise except for a sudden inability to scan despite the fact that scanner-driver-scanning applications and computer all check out OK. Virus scans have been negative. I would very much appreciate some help with this recycle bin problem. (I plan to replace the scanner and driver to solve the other problem, because even a certified technician was having a hard time with this--and so was Hewlett-Packard, the scanner manufacturer).
