Hello alh1
This can be a pain and very hard to track down, usually its either
a. faulty hardware
b. out of date driver
c. software problem
d. BIOS
So pretty much anything on your PC then :0)
First
Get in your BIOS and look for obvious errors
Load the setup defaults in your BIOS
Make sure all your drivers are up to date and your service packed up
Get any firmware upgrades for your CDROM drives
Uninstall all your major software (remember to ensure you have the unlock keys first)
Disconnect Everything exept RAM Video Card and HDD (some systems need floppy too)
Reconnect all your devices one by one till something fails
If all is still well reinstall all your software till something fails.
allow some time (a couple of hours at least before you go to the next step above Good luck
Pete
