Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Inaccessible boot device

I am getting this stop error:  *** STOP: 0X0000007B (0X8209CDB0, 0XC0000185, 0X00000000, 0X00000000 INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

System:
ECS K7S5A, AMD XP 1800+, Corsair XMS 512mb DDR, GF2 mx200, Aopen cdrw, WD40g, WD80g. Hard drives in Kinwin KF21 mobile rack.

Original HD 40g dual boot win98se/win2ksp2

I bought a new 80g installed that and the 40g into the mobile racks, moved everything to the new 80g, both are configured as cable select, I have another mobile rack with a 60g Maxtor configured as slave for backup purposes.

Everything worked great on the 80g, no problems at all, turned on the 40g and installed win98 and it was slow as a dog, turned off the 40g and left it alone, a few days later the 80g win98 starts being slow too, then win2000 gets almost to the desktop and blue screen with the stop error, tried safe mode and still stop error, can't get it booted so turned off 80g, turned on 40g, reformatted installed win2000sp2 and everything is fine until final boot up then it too gets the same error code, boot into safe mode and it boots up, everything looks fine but I don't know what I'm looking for anyway, reboot back to normal and it still gets stop error.

I've tried reinstalling on the 80g, clean install twice on the 40g and still the same error, only difference is with the 40g clean install I can get into safe mode. Also tried last known good configuration, and repair.

I've checked this forum, google, mskb and I can find the error code but none of the solutions is for this problem I'm having. This is my computer at work so its important for me to get it running again.

Any suggestions?
