The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. 2 DNS server on same domain show different IP entries for same PC

We have a single domain network. we started with one DNS server but then decided to add another one for stability and backup. now it seems the second DNS server does not get updates from the first and/or its replication is delayed. other changes made on either servers (one is also our exchange server so we do alot of add remove users and mailboxes) seem to get replicated fine. however we have intermittenly come across network name/IP resolution problems. one pc for example shows on the first server with IP 1.20 and on the second server it's entered with IP 1.21, causing some people to be able to access that PC's files and others to get denied access messages. Also i have noticed when adding new users to machines, the new folders created under Documents and Settings are now sometimes username.domain instead of just username.

we have not made any changes to our domain other than adding that second DNS server in the last 4 months. this server was basically created as a "mirror image" to use in case the first goes down, however both are active on the network at the same time. we did have a problem with that second DNS server and ended up talking to microsoft tech support and set it back up "properly". however now it seems replication or some sort of communication among the 2 DNS servers in broken or delayed.
