I intend to upgrade to Windows 2000 or Windows XP. The driver of my video card has no version for W2K or WXP. The 'highest' version available is Windows NT4. Could this driver be used under W2K and Windows XP?

I have seen on some NIC's that some drivers for Win98 worked with 2000 and some NT drivers worked with 2000. It may cause stability issues. It may work on VGA drivers too. Have you checked the HCL to see if Microsoft have drivers for the card?

sorry for my late response: I was not informed by email that comments had been posted.
The card is a special version of a Matrox Millennium G200 AGP. The special thing about it is that it was manufactured for IBM for their earlier flat panel displays (T55D), 3-4 years ago. It only has a DVI output. I need to use it in 1024x768 mode. The card came with a special driver, but I am not sure if the standard G200 AGP driver would work.
Matrox says: goto IBM, it is their card, we only manufactured it. IBM says: so far no support for this card under W2k or XP, don't know if it is going to happen (read: no).
I checked driverguide.com and the Microsoft HCL. Neither one does mention this version of the card.
The specs don't mention if it is a WDM driver and the people at IBM I get on the phone don't know either, so probably not.
I think Stoner79 may be right in that I need to upgrade. That would be a shame: I wanted to upgrade to W2k in the first place because some resource intensive software probably runs better then, but that forces me to upgrade the video card, but, given the age of my compu, that would make it better to upgrade my whole system and so on and so forth...

What is the video card you are using ??
There is an option in windows xp by which you can run a setup file using different OS compatibilty mode.Not sure if that would work for drivers.
