No, you will not be able to just go in and change the product key... I can tell you where to look in the registry, but changing them there will not work...
The only way I know of to do this is to use the Sysprep utility, which essentially strips the SID, among other things from the installation... when you reboot after running sysprep, the mini setup wizard launches and you will have to reenter the info there...
Otherwise, you cannot change the key in W2K... (although you can do it in S XP... figures, eh?)

Easy, safe, and legal. Take a Windows 2000 Pro CD, do a non destructive re-install. W2K asks for
the Product Serial every time.
1) insert CD
2) press any key to boot from CD
3) take first of the 3 choices: to setup Windows 2000 now, press ENTER
4) press F8 to agree to license
5) take first of the 2 choices: to repair the selected Windows 2000 installation - PRESS R
6) be sure to press R, above
7) as it does its non-destructive re-install, it will ask for the ID, that's when you can tell it what you want it to be.
