Do you want automatic login to windows 2000
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI've been using W2k pro for several years and I've always wondered why the login password was automatically doubled, so you always have to enter it and you can't use the box where it says to remember the password. Can anyone solve this puzzle? Maybe we can save the password. Any suggestions? I know all you have to do is have an 8 character password because it only accepts 8. But I have 6.

You know, you guys are right. I was a little HUA when I asked that question. To clarify-- When I go on line and enter the pass word. The box that you can check to save the password. If you check it, the next time you go on line the password will be doubled. You have to go to control panel, internet options, connections and then settings to delete it so you can type it in again the next time you go on line. Remember this is only with win2k.
The same thing happens with all NT4 kernel DUN's.. W2K 'hashes' the password, which in effect doubles the amount of characters in the space. If you track it down in the registry, you will see what I mean...
