excessive latency attributable perhaps to DNS configuration

Hello,

I am experiencing excessive latency on the network and this might be attributble to DNS. Just to make sure i've configured 2 DNS servers running W2K AD sp4 and they are doing name resolution. No forwarders are enabled. All DNS servers are pointing to themselves.Secured updates are permitted.When doing an nslookup on either server i get the following response:

Is this normal that when querying cisco.com the server is unknown?

Also i see no DNS critical issues in event log.
I went on a workstation and pointed dns ip's directly to the ISP and i still have the same issue. I opened a ticket with the isp and they report all is ok on their side. This evening i will plug a laptop directly into the router of isp to see if the problem persists.

Are my dns settings a problem?

You need forwarders enabled to resolve internet names like the webserver at Cisco...  Without them, all name resolutions must take place on your DNS, which is not taking place..  

Go ahead and put in your ISP's DNS servers in the Forwarders tab...  and try it..

Nice to see everything passed the test..  That is a good start...  I assume you have cked your forward lookup zone and the entries for all your clients are there, including the SRV records...  Just in case, here is another read on SRV record creation...  and Troubleshooting...

Did a show interface and looked for late collisions. I had a lot, so i changed the interface to half duplex. Once this was done download speeds reached 400 kbps.
