The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Help with Win2K server swap out!!

Asked by sumfknguy in Windows 2000 Operating System

We have a Win2K Domain controller for a client of ours that is acting as a File/App server. They are currently using active directory as well. Our client uses an application that has a database for it's members (its a local gym). Recently, they decided that they are going with a new software application that will run their member database. With this, they decided to upgrade their server as well per vendor specs. Myself, I haven't upgraded a server since the NT.4 days and if I recell correctly, I did some sort of demotion/promotion of a PDC and it was seamless. What we need to do is this.. the vendor is coming onsite to convert the existing membership software/database to the new software. What I would "like" to do is be able to place the new server "live", have them configure their software/database on it, and then come behind them with our migration of data/active directory/etc.  Is this possible to do? Can I have both live and then do a demotion/promotion? Am I not making any sense? I am VERY rusty when it comes to this these days and need some advice. The network is about 20 workstations with a single Win2k server. The new server is a Win2k as well... what tools and things do I need to do? Any help is greatly appreciated....

I am putting all my points online for this one... I really need the help! =)
