3. One network card
4.  - NetGear Routers and switches for LAN and WAN
5.  25 users

Using Task Manager, determine what process is causing your memory leak (memory usage should continue to climb with no steady-state).

Post the process here.

by: irshqureshiPosted on 2004-06-28 at 12:17:31ID: 11419153

Memory starts at 35% utilization and peaks at 55% utilization. but the CPU utilization goes from 2 to 3 % to 100% with few hours ( between 2 to 4).

I belive the memory utilization is perty stable but the CPU is going out of sight.  I have reboted the server gain to monitor the time.

Good.  What process is eating up CPU cycles?

by: irshqureshiPosted on 2004-06-28 at 18:12:52ID: 11421914

Good question, I was unable to determine that, looking at the process monitor it does not provide any details, However, I can tell you the memory allocation.  Do you have any suggestion, How can I tell which process is keeping CPU busy? Instruction will be helpful

Thanks

Launch Task Manger and sort by CPU Utlization

by: Netman66Posted on 2004-06-28 at 18:46:44ID: 11422030

The CPU utilization is listed in Process as well, you need to do as MSGeek suggests and click the CPU header bar to sort either ascending or descending and then look for the process using cycles.  You should (in a normal setup) see System Idle using most of it.

by: irshqureshiPosted on 2004-06-28 at 19:34:35ID: 11422302

OK,

Here are the results.  The CPU utilization is as follows:

1 - system idle is on to with almost 95 5 % of time
2 -MCSheilds.exe
3 - beserver.exe
4 - win Mgmt

I am not sure what services should be runing in normal SBs2000 server.  We have Mail ( exchange using POP 3), SQL servicer, AD
we have about 24 computer connected to it and about 30 users

What version of McAfee are you running on the server?

by: irshqureshiPosted on 2004-12-13 at 08:12:17ID: 12810438

The problem was solved by updating the MacAfee enterprise Anti various package.  the OLD version was totally incompatible with Exchange, it was consuming all the memory and basically keeping the server busy.  After the DAT files are updates and new AV was loaded the server is working fine.. Thank everyone for your help –

irshqureshi...  sorting by CPU utilization can solve some problems, sorting by memory usage will help with others.

Ufortunately we were not able to solve your problem directly, but this question may be a valuable resource for others.  If you post a request in community support with a copy of the URL to this question, you may ask the moderators what you want to have happen to this question.

I would suggest in this instance that a refund be given, but that the question be filed with other previously asked questions as a resource for others (PAQ'd).  If you feel some credit is due to the experts that assisted you then you may accept one or more answers that resulted in your finding out what the real problem was.  As an expert I usually object to refunds were no solution was ever posted, but in this case you clearly indicated what the resolution was.  Thank you for that, MSGeek.

I agree, the solution should be loged for other members.  How can I get the points refunded?

by: irshqureshiPosted on 2004-12-27 at 20:02:32ID: 12910444

The answer to the problem has been solved by myself, no points need to be awarded...

please close

As I stated in my post on Date: 12/26/2004 12:47PM EST, you need to post a question in the community support area to close the question and get a refund.  Only moderators can close questions where no answer(s) has/have been accepted.  MSGeek
