Right-click on your desktop - go to arrange icons and uncheck the Auto Arrange function. Let me know if there is not a check mark there when you go to uncheck it. MSgeek

Question
Windows 200 not saving desktop settings
After every shutdown all of the icons on the desktop are pushed to the left hand side of the screen on restart. Why? And how can I position the icons to stay where I put them.

Is this a network-connected workstation? Could it be a policy doing this? Or a profile issue?
Try creating a new user and see if the problem persists...if not - then it could be something screwy in your user profile.
Try holding <SHIFT> as you click Start->Shutdown (after you have all icons arranged).
