Doesnt sound like a bad idea, i will have to try this. thanks!
Any other ideas would be welcomed, it makes more sense to go with a handfull of ammunition.

Browse All TopicsHey,
I have a client who has a Windows 2000 PC, he has 2 CD Drives, Floppy and Zip drive.
When ever you try to access the Floppy, CDROMS, Zip Drives via My Computer, you get the following error message:
--------------------------
D:\ is not accessible.
Incorrect function.
--------------------------
You get a similar message if you try to access them via the command line.
Everything appears to be ok in device manager, and the computer is communicating with the drives to a degree.. i.e you can right click and eject the CD drive.
There is not virus, and no obvious spyware/adware on the PC.
I am trying to avoid a reload at all costs.
Im confused
Cheers
Rob

If the system was OK previously, just reapply Service Pack 4 - this has worked many times for me. Just make sure to backup your data before.
