The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

MRxSMb ID 8003. Master Browser error in event log repeating itself.

Asked by bigdumbchimp in Windows 2000 Operating System

I continually get this error message on my event log for one of my DCs

Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      MRxSmb
Event Category:      None
Event ID:      8003
Date:            2/2/2005
Time:            9:44:54 AM
User:            N/A
Computer:      NT-CHA
Description:
The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer SWOLFORTH1 that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{A450B11A-F301-45B. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced.
Data:
0000: 00 00 00 00 03 00 4e 00   ......N.
0008: 00 00 00 00 43 1f 00 c0   ....C..À
0010: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00   ........

0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00   ........

However it is not always coming from SWOLFORTH1. It can come from a number of different computers and it seems to be adding to the list which ones it comes from.

Our network is set up like this

Location one is a .12.0 subnet with our HQ and a DC.
Location 2 is 10.0 subnet with the 1st DC in our main Warehouse in another town
We have 10 other subnets located in different towns but only one of them has a DC ((that we will be getting rid of soon)

I have gone into the registry of the DC in the HQ and changed the IsDomainMaster to TRUE. This did not solve the problem. Maintainserverlist is set to Yes instead of auto as well.

Any clue?
