I have 2 Win2K machines.
On one of them, I can open a command prompt and type a full path (including spaces) wiithout having to use quote marks. (ie: cd \documents and settings\administrator\des
On the other machine it doesn't work unless I include quote marks. (ie: c:\"documents and settings"\administrator\de
I know there must be a setting somewhere that I can change, I just can't find it.
Anybody?

paraghs - have compared registry keys between both machines and they are the same, but thank you for that. Now at least I know which keys they are.
Longbow - "You need to use quote marks when a file or directory have spaces." - not true, I clearly said in my original question that I am able to type without quotes on the one machine.
The answer is, on the other machine (that wasn't working) the user was actually using a shortcut to "command.com" instead of "cmd.exe" which I discovered when simply going to start, run, cmd and it worked properly. I then checked the shortcut and discovered that the user (from the DOS days) had made a shortcut to command.com which adhears to the 8.3 format.
Cmd.exe does not have that limitation.

Compare the following registry keys on your both computers :
1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Softwar
2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software
See if there is any difference. If they are different, change the registry values on troubling PC to match those on the other PC.
