Hi,
I really need your help if you know how to fix this...
I can't get any clients to be able to connect to the new domain named abc.local.
Background:
New server for a mom&pop shop with about 5 clients and a new install of Win Adv Srv updated to SP4 (bootleg copy of Adv Srv). This is a very basic install. No RAS,VPN,wireless, just a sole DC with DNS. There is a netgear router going out and I let that be the DHCP to keep things simple. Netgear router uses the new server as primary and the ISP as the secondary DNS server.
The Win server only uses AD and DNS and DNS is configured for Yes for allow dynamic updates on the primary AD integrated zone and the reverse lookup installed for the network segment. The server NIC is set on TCP/IP properties to resolve in this order: 1)server 2)router 3)ISP's DNS.
The clients on the segment can view the internet and if you do an IPCONFIG /Release /Renew you can get a nice lease from the clients with all three DNS servers in the right order from IPCONFIG /ALL, However... can't get any of them to access the domain.
Have tried using change computer name to join the network with <computername>.abc and <computername>.abc.local and nothing works. The error that pops up on the client is
- The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS.
- One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone:
abc
local
. (the root zone)
Both the event view on the client and the server are fine. A while ago there was a server error
http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=36872 but I am not so great on server to be honest and I need someone to walk me through remotely (we can use whatever terminal svc or remote client app you wish) to get the certs right, get the clients to connect, and this will be an app server so to check to make sure that there aren't any goofy things that I have done. I will paypal $60 an hour (my rate, I work cheap :) each hour to a Really good tech who can assist me on this. Remember this is experts exchange so only if y'all know what's happening. Please email me at <email address deleted - DarthMod, CS Moderator> with your domestic phone number so that we can figure out the remote admin by you. It's gotta be a tech who speaks very good english and perferably here in the U.S. although that may not make a difference if we IM...
I'm spending too much time on this when a great tech can teach me and save me hours of work, get the customer going :)
We can post the result here for others when it's done
