I'm asking this question on behalf of a friend. They have a Windows 2000 pro computer which sais it has 5 cd drives in my computer when actually it only physically has one.
In Device manager there is only the single drive, sadly they do not have their 2000 cd anymore so they can't format and install.
The computer used to be an administrators at a school, When he checks Administrative tools there is nothing in there. Also the Drive is not Scsi, it is standard IDE.
These drives are not virtual drives either, also they are not old networked drives.
Basically I need to know how to remove these additional drives thanks.

Restart the computer into "Safe" mode.
Go into "Device Manager" and look under the listing for DVD/CD-Rom drives -
remove any duplicates (usually, leave the top entry).
Reboot into "normal" mode and see if this has fixed the problem.
Looking into the "Admin Tools" problem.
