Recommended Settings for Exchange 2000 Virtual Memory

Hello there

I have an Exchange 2000 Server running on Virtual Machine VMware. Every now and then I get an error in the event log indicating that the virtual memory is so heavily fragmented and I need to restart the SMTP to correct this. When this happens I cannot navigate to the Exchange Virtual Directory in the Default Website in IIS, it is there but with big red error mark. When I restart the SMTP service everything is back to normal.

I checked the size of the virtual memory on the server and it was set double the amount available of the physical memory. I know that the recommend size for the virtual memory is at least 1.5 times the size of the physical memory. But when I run the Exchange best tool analyser and under the Critical condition it indicates that the virtual memory is set to be double the size of the physical memory and I have to change it back to be equal.

Am I missing something here?

Thank You
