Question

mod rewrite - Multiple domains on a single shared hosting images & capcha problems

Asked by: pablogiganti

Hi,
I´m having problems with broken images and capcha on my website.
E.g. 1
Current path is:
http://clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/admin/www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/images.php?op=page_header&id=22&rand=1243853979
But it should be:
http://clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/admin/pages.php?op=edit&id=22
E.g. 2
Current path is:
http://clic-trabajo.com/users/www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/captcha.php?hash=
But it should be:
http://www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/captcha.php?hash=

My current .htaccess is attached as code

Please advice.
Thanks,
Pablo

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} clic-trabajo.com$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/recruiter/.*$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/emailmarketer/.*$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /recruiter/$1 [L]

I think the path you are using is wrong one. What kind of control panel is installed on the server. Put more details about the issue. It is not clear with your request

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.

I have a script installed in this address www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/ and some other scripts running in other directories.

I also have several domainspointing to different folders using a .htaccess file, from which you´ve seen the part that concerns above.

When people type clic-trabajo.com on their browser the content of the subfolder /recruiter/ is shown, showing the address clic-trabajo.com on the user´s browser address (instead of clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/).

The problem is that images and other objects (captcha included) that use full path (clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/images/picture.jpg) Instead of relative (/recruiter/images/picture.jpg) are rendered like this http://clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/images/www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/images/picture.jpg

Same problem with some links and all other objects that use the full path.

Hope is clear now.

Thanks,
Pablo

but this link http://clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/images/www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/images/picture.jpg is not working. and I do not understand why you are using www.clic-trabajo.com in the middle of the address do you have folder like that?

by: pablogigantiPosted on 2009-06-02 at 06:07:42ID: 24526301

No, I don´t have such a folder. That is the problem actually.

All full paths are rewritten like that and that is wrong.

Paths like:
http://www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/captcha.php?hash=

Should not be rewritten. However, they are being re written as shown below:
http://clic-trabajo.com/users/www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/captcha.php?hash=

Notice the domain being repeated.

How can I avoid it?

Thanks for your advice.
Pablo

Hi,
Thanks for your quick reply.

Actually, you are right!!! So, then I don´t understand what´s going on.

Please check this out:
http://clic-trabajo.com/users/employer_register.php
The last item of the form (* Código de seguridad:) is the captcha code and it´s broken.

What could be happening?

Thanks,
Pablo

<pre id="line876"><img src='www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/captcha.php?hash=' border=0>

</pre>

Sorry about the above, it seems EE has some problems while copy/pasting with mouse.

I was trying to say that you forgot the "http://" so at the below code snippet, the first line is your current wrong image tag that should be changed to the what I entered at the second line:

<img src='www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/captcha.php?hash=' border=0>
<img src='http://www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/captcha.php?hash=' border=0>

As I can see you are using  img src='www.clic-trabajo.com/recruiter/captcha.php?hash=' border=0 give a try with following

img src='../recruiter/captcha.php?hash=' border=0

let me know if it works.

Hi,
Thanks for your quick reply.
The problem is that the system generates those outputs and I don´t know how to change that.
The system is supposed to work fine without the rewrite. Hence, the problem is the rewrite.
Am I right?
Thanks,
Pablo

if you rename .htaccess does it work fine? I don't think so.

You are right. It doesn´t...
Let me take a look around and I´ll get back to you in a moment or two

by: dristitechPosted on 2009-06-02 at 08:46:53ID: 24528134

its not that rewrite it is the way that code is generating you need to put there img src='../recruiter/captcha.php?hash=' border=0 and you are ready to go.

In what language is "the system".
Can we take a peek?

Hi dristitech,

I opened a ticket on the software company´s tech support system and they fixed it for me.
Basically you are right, but I don´t know exactly what they did to fix it.

Thanks a lot,
